ALVAREZ KINGS: ‘Cold Conscience.’
This one just arrived via e-mail, and I think may be of interest to some of the LOUD HORIZON visitors. As the video follows it’s probably not really worth y trying to describe the music … I’m sure you an make your own minds up!
It’s certainly got that light, fresh, indie feel to it – lying somewhere between The Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend. Anyway – cue the ‘lazy journalism’ (I’m off out shortly!) and here’s the label’s background blurb:
“Sheffield based indie-pop band Alvarez Kings release the EP ‘Cold Conscience’ through Of National Importance Records this June, in anticipation of their first North American tour dates.
The 4-track album follows their debut EP ‘Patience is Strength’, a 2010 release sandwiched between two European tours. The tracks were recorded with long time collaboratorDave Sanderson (Reverend & The Makers, The Exhibition, 65 Days of Static) at 2fly Studios in Sheffield and Steve Ellis (Wooderson, Hey Sholay, Skeletons) at Orion Studios in Rotherham.
Brothers Simon (Vocals/Guitar) and Paul Thompson (Bass) formed the band in 2005 along with guitarist Sean Parkin, and drummer Rich Walker. Having steadily garnered music industry attention from their inception, ALVAREZ KINGS have been handpicked to play festivals including SXSW, The Isle of Wight Festival and London’s 02 Wireless Festival. They have headlined two capacity shows at Camden’s Koko Venue, and amassed support slots with the likes of Bloc Party, The Enemy, Kaiser Chiefs, One Night Only, The Holloways and The Courteeners.”
